How To Stop Worrying

Do you find yourself asking yourself the following?
Are you plagued by anxiety, worry or fear? Do you feel like your troubles have over taken you?
Do you spend your days and nights trying to deal with nothing but worries? If so, then you’ve come to the right place.

Worrying is the biggest source of stress and anxiety known to mankind, and your body can actually suffer from excessive worrying. Worrying causes undue stress, and stress has been known to cause illness in both the body and the mind. Why subject yourself to constant worrying when you can do something now to remedy it?

Why worry?

Millions of people around the world spend their waking hours worrying about everything from their finances to what they are going to cook for dinner the next day. Worrying has become synonymous with modern living. Some people think that worrying is normal and that it’s just a normal part of the survival mechanism.

A wise man once taught me “What Your Focus On, You Make Room For”. He also said: “What You Fear, You Will Empower”. This is so true because you’re thinking creates a pathway to success or failure.

Every decision you make in life comes from a choice. Each decision begins with a thought therefore; we must learn to guard our thoughts. Changing the way we think starts by focusing on the things in life that are true, pure, just, good, sacred, moral, and commendable.

As you learn to guard your thoughts you will activate the right thoughts and make choices from the thoughts that you think. While it’s true that humanity’s mental apparatus is generally pessimistic, you don’t have to give in to all the negative impulses. Again, you have a choice here. So if you choose not to worry, you can actually focus on more important things, such as finding actual solutions to your problems.

Are you at a loss as to where to start? Well, the easiest way to stop worrying is to understand how worries come about in the first place. Today, people worry nearly nonstop about everything from the past and the future.

We’re worried about things that we weren’t able to control in the past, and we also worry about things that we can’t foresee in the future. We have become preoccupied (perhaps too preoccupied) with things that are no longer within our reach (or perhaps not yet within our reach).

Past, present, and future

We can change the way we view ourselves, our circumstances, and our surroundings. When we change our focus we make room for our destiny to happen. King Solomon said "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.

The first step to defeating worry is recognizing that we live in the present and although we can’t change the past we can certainly learn from it and positively affect our future.

Human intervention is needed in the present, which is where you are right now. Don’t worry about the past or you’ll end up worrying over old bones that have probably been buried already.

Worrying about the future is one of the most unproductive activities possible. We are plagued with dooms day outlooks at every glance. The bottom line, you really have no idea what’s going to happen in the future so stop worry about it.

Focus on the things you do have control on and make wise choices. What you will find then is as you address the problems of the present, the future will take care of itself.

So from now on, don’t focus on past events or future events that have not happened yet. Focus on the issues at hand that you can solve today so that your present troubles will be cleared. When you clear your present problems, you will discover that your anxieties about the past and the future will dissolve. Divert all your energy into solving problems, not worrying about them.
